Pengertian Continuous Tense Disertai Rumus dan Contoh

Nah, kali ini kita akan mengupas lebih detail tentang tiap bentuk tenses yang ada di dalamnya. Pengertian Continuous Tense

Dalam bentuk tenses, sebenarnya ada 4 tenses pokok yang perlu kamu ketahui agal lebih mudah menghafalnya. Keempat bentuk tenses utama tersebut adalah simple, continuous, perfect, dan perfect continuous.

Di dalam bahasan ini, kita akan membahas tentang continuous tense. Menurut aturan grammar bahasa Inggris, continuous tense adalah bentuk kalimat yang menyatakan sesuatu yang sedang dilakukan, baik itu di masa lalu, masa depan, atau masa sekarang.

Saat kamu belajar bahasa Inggris, kamu mungkin akan menemukan nama lain continuous tense, yaitu progressive tense. Yep, progressive tense adalah cara lain yang digunakan native untuk menyebut continuous tense.

Rumus Continuous Tense Disertai Contoh

Di bawah ini, kamu bisa mempelajari rumus-rumus continuous tense sekaligus contohnya. Karena kita menggunakan teori 16 Tenses, maka kita bisa menemukan 4 continuous tense yang terdapat dalam sistem 16 tersebut.

Present Continuous Tense

Kamu ingin menceritakan sesuatu yang saat ini sedang dilakukan atau terjadi, dalam bahasa Inggris? Bentuk kalimat yang akan kamu sebutkan adalah present continuous tense. Memahami present continuous tense cukup mudah kok, karena formulanya juga gampang diingat. Berikut ini rumus present continuous tense dalam bentuk verbal dan nominal yang bisa kamu hapalkan.

Verbal

Nominal

Past Continuous Tense

Past continuous tense adalah bentuk kalimat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang sedang dilakukan/terjadi di masa lalu. Rumus past continuous tense beserta contoh penggunaannya bisa kamu lihat dalam tabel dan contoh di bawah ini.

Verbal

Future Continuous Tense

Nah, kali ini kita akan membahas satu bentuk tenses yang agak sulit nih, yaitu future continuous tense. Bentuk future continuous tense bisa kita gunakan saat menceritakan sesuatu yang sedang dilakukan di masa depan. Supaya lebih jelas dan paham, kamu bisa memahami rumus future continuous tense dan contoh kalimatnya di bawah ini.

Verbal

Nominal

NB: Meski benar secara grammar, kata “being” sebenarnya sangat jarang dipakai dalam bentuk nominal. Biasanya para native lebih suka menggunakan kata “be” saja.

Past Future Continuous Tense

Bentuk terakhir yang akan dibahas di sini adalah past future continuous tense, bentuk kalimat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang akan sedang dilakukan di masa lalu seandainya satu hal terjadi.

Bingung? Oke, jadi intinya, past future continuous tense digunakan untuk mengandaikan sesuatu yang akan terjadi. Ibaratnya nih, kamu sekarang sedang putus dengan pacarmu. Seandainya kalian berdua tidak putus, kamu mungkin sekarang sedang merencanakan malam Mingguan bersamanya.

Supaya lebih jelas lagi, coba perhatikan rumus past future continuous tense berikut contoh-contohnya di bawah ini.

NB: penggunaan being juga tidak terlalu umum dalam past future continuous tense versi nominal. Jadi tidak masalah jika kamu hanya menggunakan “be” saja.
